It’s great to do the things we love, and for most of you reading this that includes sipping a tall cool glass of beer. When you can do something you love and help a great cause, well, that’s just icing on the cake. That’s exactly what you can do every time you enjoy an Abita Restoration Pale Ale though, since a portion of the proceeds go to the hurricane Katrina recovery effort.
I’ve enjoyed this beer on tap at Taco Mac in the past, but tonight I’m enjoying a bottle in my backyard beer garden. It’s a smooth, drinkable pale ale with just the right balance between malt and hops. From the label:
Restoration Pale Ale® is brewed with pale, caramel and carapils malts. It is liberally hopped and dry hopped with Cascade hops. This golden ale has a rich body, mild bitterness, and a snappy citrus hop flavor and aroma. With your help Restoration raised over $550,000 for hurricane relief.
Abita Restoration Pale Ale is easy drinking at 5.2% by volume and 25 IBUs. I paid $5.00 for a mug at Taco Mac and $8.99 for a six-pack here in the Atlanta area.
Abita Restoration Pale Ale pours to a bright orange color with a thick creamy head formation and a soft malty nose laced with subtle citrusy hops. Taking a sip, I get caramel up front followed by some soft citrusy, grassy hops in the aroma and flavor, and finally a light but balancing bitterness.
All in all this is a tasty ale, not a lot to separate it from the pack but it’s for a good cause and the price is right. It was a perfect beer to savor while grilling out steaks on a warm Georgia summer evening. And it was nice to know I did a little good while enjoying it.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
