Heads up! This may be one of my shortest beer reviews ever! That’s simply because there just isn’t a lot to tell about Cherry Street Rivers Up White Water IPA. The Cherry Street Brewing Cooperative is a small brewery in Cumming, Georgia, and they don’t have this beer listed on their website. I can only tell you that it was one of the four beers of the month at Taco Mac in August of 2015, its draft only, and it’s a session IPA of strength 4.5% by volume that I paid $6 for. Oh, and I got a cool Rivers Up logo glass with it. Taco Mac describes the beer as “Session IPA for outdoor diehards and weekend warriors”.
My mug of Cherry Street Rivers Up White Water IPA arrived a bright orange color with a thick foamy head and a little piney resin in the nose. Taking a sip, I got very light caramel up front, then more of the resin in the palate that the nose promised and eventually a dry bitter finish.
Overall, I’ll say there is nothing special here and the beer is about average for the “Session IPA” style (that’s not really a style). Still, the beer was refreshing and sufficient to the task of washing down chips and queso. I might buy it again, depending on price and other options.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
