Advent Party Crasher Imperial Stout

Review Date 1/26/2021   By John Staradumsky

OMG! I’m running out of beer! Well, OK not really, but I am running out of beers from the Clown Shoes 12 Beers of Christmas holiday sampler. I just popped the Day 10 beer, Advent Party Crasher, a variation on their Undead Party Crasher Imperial Stout. Let’s let Clown Shoes have a say, and tell us what this beer is all about, shall we?

Who does not love a chocolate orange during the holiday season?! We took the base recipe from our winter-time favorite American Imperial Stout, Undead Party Crasher, and added mandarin orange flavor along with sweet orange peel to add a little splash of citrus

Ingredients: Mandarin Orange, sweet orange peel, lactose

Clown Shoes Advent Party Crasher has an alcohol content of 8% by volume, a few points lower than Undead Party Crasher. I paid $30.99 for the 12-pack at Total Wine. I later saw it at Sherlocks for six bucks less. My can is stamped Best by 1/31/22.

Clown Shoes Advent Party Crasher pours to a jet-black color with a medium sized creamy tan head, and that on a vigorous pour, and a smoky ashy nose. Taking a sip, the beer is very full in body, with dark roasted malts and robust chocolate, a hint of licorice, just a bit of citrus fruit, char, ash, and a roasty bitter finish.

I liked this beer a lot, but I’ll confess had I not known about the orange peel and orange additions, I might not have picked them out. They are mostly occluded by the deep roasty notes of the beer. That said, I loved the beer for what I did get out of it-and I’ll be back for more, for sure.

I rate the beers of the sampler so far:

Clown Shoes Eagle Claw Fist IPA

Chocolate Sombrero Mexican Style Chocolate Stout

Advent Party Crasher Imperial Stout

One Man Holiday Belgian Style Quadruple

Bubble Farm IPA

Clown Shoes Pecan Pie Porter

Royal Standard Wee Heavy

Space Cake Double IPA

Double Dry Hopped YeeeHaaw New England Style IPA

Reindeer Games Bavarian Style India Pale Ale

And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
