Friends! Romans! Beer drinkers! I come here not to praise Clown Shoes One Man Holiday Belgian Style Quadruple, but to…well, actually I am here to praise it. Clown Shoes One Man Holiday is the 9^th selection in the 12-pack (we’re ¾ through now!), and whether you choose to drink one a day or just pop one in the frequency you please, it’s nice to drink them in their proper. I have done exactly that and enjoyed the increasing complexity of the beers as we go. This is, after all, the first ever mix pack from Clown Shoes, so I followed their lead on this one.

Clown Shoes One Man Holiday is brewed in a style that we just do not see enough of, the abbey quad, a rich and strong beer full of complex flavor with a warming finish perfect for the winter weather. You really can have your own one-man (or woman) holiday with a can of this beer.

Clown Shoes says:

Rich, malty, and full of dark/ripe fruit sweetness. Unlike most beers in the pack you’ll be hard-pressed to find any hop flavor here!

Clown Shoes One Man Holiday Belgian Style Quadruple has an alcohol content of 8% by volume, and I paid $30.99 for the sampler. I later saw it at Sherlocks for six bucks less. My can is stamped as Best By 01/31/22. I like the fact that not all the cans in the sampler have the same suggested best by date; the stronger styles have a date a year longer than the more perishable ones. One Man Holiday is exclusive to the 2020 sampler.

Clown Shoes One Man Holiday Belgian Style Quadruple pours to a beautiful amber-red color with a thick fizzy head that fades as fast as it forms and a dark fruity nose of raisins and figs. Taking a sip, the beer is medium to full in body with funky-musty yeasty notes that leap right out at you and dance all over your tongue with a supporting cast of dark fruity raisin, fig and date notes. Finishes warming with alcohol and more dark fruit.

A very good quad indeed, if a little low in ABV for the style, but very complex and delicious.
