So did I tell you I had a beer with the one and only Beer Samurai, Dave Cichon? I did tell you, but if you haven’t read about it, you can here. It was a lot of fun, this I can tell you. Dave was also kind enough to bring me a few cans of beer from Coastal Brew Works of New Jersey, brainchild of beer savant Jersey Johnny. So, the next time I was having a beer, I popped a can of Shooting Seastar DDH Double New England Style IPA W/ Citra, El Dorado & Cashmere.

Coastal Brew Works says:

Shooting Seastar is our newest DDH Double New England IPA. We brewed Seastar with a delicious blend of Citra, El Dorado and Cashmere hops! Can you say Tropical?!

They also provide some tasting notes which I will share in a moment, right after I share my tasting notes. I did not check the brewery listing for the beer until after I drank my can, because I do not want my own impressions of the beer influenced. But before we get to that…

Coastal Brew Works Shooting Seastar DDH Double New England Style IPA has an alcohol content of 8% by volume with 40 IBUs. I have np pricing on this beer. My can was stamped SHOOT-YOUR-SHOT 7-24-24 on the bottom. If you don’t already know (and I suspect you probably do) DDH stands for Double Dry Hopped.

OK, so here’s what I thought of the beer.

Coastal Brew Works Shooting Seastar DDH Double New England Style IPA W/ Citra, El Dorado & Cashmere pours to a hazy orange color with a thick fluffy white head and an inviting nose of tropical juicy mango and stonefruit peach. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body, moreso than I expected, and I like that. It’s again super juicy with tropical mango and passion fruit, citrusy tangerine and stone fruit peach and apricots. The beer is balanced to gently sweet in the finish, and very refreshing.

Here’s what the brewery says:

Shooting Seastar pours a hazy golden orange with a smooth, full body and a fluffy white head. The aroma hits with juicy citrus supported by big tropical fruit, melon and stone fruit. The hops deliver flavors of tangerine and candied grapefruit up front, with melon, passionfruit and pineapple character through mid sip. Mild peach & stone fruit give way to an aromatic but soft herbal finish.

Pretty darned close to what I got in the beer!

You know I would drink this one again my friends, and you should, too.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
