Kirkland Vintage Ale 2025
Review Date 9/19/2025 By John Staradumsky
I wasn’t looking for Kirkland Vintage Ale. Well, I take that back, I had been looking for Kirkland Vintage Ale for quite some time. On the day that I finally found it, though, I wasn’t looking specifically for it. I had been hitting my local Costco every weekend for the past few, looking for this year’s Biergarten Collection of 24 different German beers. I didn’t find it on this visit, but as you are now aware, they did have Kirkland Vintage Ale. Two bottles went into my cart.
This was, of course, Kirkland Vintage Ale 2025, and it is as the label indicates a Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout. It is brewed by Deschutes Brewing of Bend, Oregon, and you really can’t go wrong as a beer if you are brewed by Deschutes. They also brew the excellent Kirkland Lager for Costco.
From the box label:
Aged for nine months in a mix of bourbon barrels. This robust imperial stout was meticulously crafted by Deschutes Brewery in Bend, Oregon, with notes of dark chocolate and roasted coffee.
Kirkland Vintage Ale 2025 has an alcohol content of 12% by volume and I paid $7.99-you read that right-for my bottle. Actually, I bought two at that price, one to drink right away and one to age.
Kirkland Vintage Ale 2025 pours to a jet-black color with a thick creamy tan head and a nose of dark roast and boozy bourbon. Taking a sip, the beer is full in body, smooth, rich and roasty. Dark chocolate pops, dark fruity raisin, coffee, wood, and then the boozy bourbon. It permeates and arises even more in the warming alcohol finish.
On it’s own merits I am inclined to give this beer four and a quarter to four and a half stars. Given that great pirce and the bomber bottle, though, I will round it up to a full 5. Oh, and I did get my Biergarten Collection box the following weekend-and a third bottle of Kirkland Vintage Ale to go with it.
Glad I tried it?

Would I rebuy it??
