So, I've been going through my beer stash, which I really need to do don'tcha know because some of my beer is getting a little (OK maybe more than a little) long in the tooth. Sometimes that means a drain pour, but sometimes that means a wonderful treat aged nicely. The latter was the case with my can of Now Serving Midnight Munchies Peanut Butter Stout by Epic Brewing, which I bought from Craftshack on March 10th of 2021. It was delivered on March 15th, the day after my birthday, and has been sitting in my stash ever since.
Epic has a QR code on the label, which doesn't work, but I am not sure if they ever had a dedicated page for this beer. While searching my email for the CraftShack receipt to see how much I paid for it, though, I do see that Epic sent me an email about it. Details in the "Epic Says" section.
There is a link to a video about the beer in the email, but it is gone. The video that is. I always wonder why breweries take this stuff down; I still have reviews I posted in the 90s here on Guruofbrew.com. The history of beer is important, after all.
Epic Now Serving Midnight Munchies Peanut Butter Stout has an alcohol content of 8.5% by volume. My can is labeled as brewed in Denver, Colorado and stamped BB 9/7/2021 on the bottom. Looks like I went a little over, folks.
About Epic Brewing
Back in 2009, Epic Brewing Company became Utah's first brewery since prohibition to exclusively brew high-alcohol content beer. We handcraft and carefully package our unique beers in cans and classic 22-ounce bottles. Whether you're throwing cans in your pack for a long hike or breaking out bombers for big celebrations, we have the right beer for you. Discover natural variations of taste, from sweet or smoky malt to hazy and piney IPAs, or barrel-aged stouts with decadent adjuncts.
Epic is perfect for Utah's casual beer drinkers and adventurous connoisseurs alike!
Tasting Notes
Epic Now Serving Midnight Munchies Peanut Butter Stout pours to a jet-black color with a medium head of creamy tan foam and a nose of Reese's Peanut butter cups. Taking a sip, the beer is full in body and quickly pops with caramel, smooth milk chocolate and also smooth, creamy peanut butter, then bright licorice. It finishes dry, gently roasty and bitter with a hint of coffee.
Value & Verdict
I paid $5.99 for my pint can from Craftshack.
Delightful with age, Epic Now Serving Midnight Munchies Peanut Butter Stoutis a lot like a trip to the corner store, and your Reesies melted all over your licorice sticks. On the way back. I would love to drink it again, if they ever brew it again. Epic, if you’re reading this, you should.
