What’s going on with Fat Orange Cat brewing? Is everything OK? I was trying to access their website and Binged it and came up with https://fatorangecatbrewco.com/. That threw a domain error, though:

Something unexpected happened while accessing this website. It looks like it doesn't have an active domain connection upgrade to link the requested domain name to the WordPress.com site.

That’s not a good sign. I did, though, find another website for them, and this one works:

Home | Fat Orange Cat Brew Co.

So, maybe they just moved webhosting from Wordpress to Square. OK. But, then I saw this on their new website:

TASTING BARN and OPEN AIR DRIVE-THRU ARE PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

You'll find our beer distributed out and about all over. Thank you for your continued FOC support!

That’s not good, either. I will say though, that Fat Orange Cat beers continue to be available in Georgia, and I am here to talk about one of them, The Airing of Grievances, a New England style IPA.

Fat Orange Cat, it should be noted, is a contract brewer operating out of North Haven, Connecticut. They brew at the Twelve Percent Beer Project facility there. They are in good company as Abomination Brewing also contracts there.

The label for The Airing of Grievances describes it as a New England Style India Pale Ale with Citra, Amarillo, and Columbus Hops. It has an alcohol content of 6% by volume. I paid $5.99 for a single pint can at Total Wine, where they sell it for $16.99 the 4-pack. Cryptically, my can is stamped on the bottom: U 5 W09:22:33.

The name of this beer is, of course, inspired by the Seinfeld episode “The Strike”, where Festivus is celebrated. Parts of that celebration includes "airing of grievances", which allows participants to air grievances by telling everyone else at the table about their complaints and gripes with them and life in general.

Fat Orange Cat The Airing of Grievances pours to a pale whitish yellow color with a thick fluffy white head and a nose of fresh squeezed orange juice. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body, and I think I would like a tad more. It’s pasty from oats, citrus juicy with orange and tangerine notes and bitter in the finish with tangerine and grapefruit peel. A minty herbal hop bitterness is there, too.

Can I air my grievances? I’d like a bit more body as previously noted, but the beer is tasty as it is and I would buy it again. It just might be Frank Costanza’s favorite beer, after all, and I wouldn’t want him airing any grievances against me next Festivus.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
