Squeezebox Tmavé Pivo

Review Date 12/4/2025 By John Staradumsky
So there I was, sitting at my desk staring at my widescreen curved monitor, and writing a review of Ninkasi Sleigh’R Winter Ale. This is, of course, my happy place, and I spend a lot of time here drinking coffee and puttering in the mornings, working all day, and having a few beers a few nights a week. I have my desktop wallpaper configured to display in order all of my scanned beer labels and six-pack holders, and at this particular moment it displayed the label of….
Fonta Flora Squeezebox Tmavé Pivo. Mind you, this was in early December, so the nutcracker on the label was quite apropos indeed. I do love nutcrackers so. Then too, Squeezebox and Mollie B make up one of my favorite polka/volksmusik bands. I have seen them live in Helen, Georgia, and you should see them, too. They appear around the country, so keep your eyes (and ears) open for their next appearance near you.
But had I reviewed Squeezebox Tmavé Pivo here on guruofbrew.com? I had not. I enjoyed the beer out on the patio on June 1st of 2025, and took tasting notes, but had not posted a full review. Here I am to do that now. You can thank me later.
This is my first beer ever from Fonta Flora of Nebo, Morganton, and Charlotte, North Carolina. Nebo is a little over 200 miles from me, but we do not get Fonta Flora beers in Georgia. I was just in Murphy, North Carolina a few days ago, which is about 150 miles from Nebo. We go there a few times a year but I have never seen Fonta Flora beers there, either.
Fonta Flora says about Squeezebox:
A czech-style dark lager [tmavé pivo] brewed with estate-grown cherry wood.
Fonta Flora Squeezebox Tmavé Pivo has an alcohol content of 5.2% by volume and I paid $6.49 for my can from Half Time. This is the only pricing information that I have. This beer is a year-round offering according to the brewery website. It is a collaboration with Schilling of New Hampshire.
Fonta Flora Squeezebox Tmavé Pivo pours to a dark brownish black color with a thick creamy tan head and a nose of roasted dark malt. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body apropos to the style. It’s roasty, woody, and floral with cherry notes. Finishes dry and again roasty.
I would love to find this beer again.
Glad I tried it?

Would I rebuy it??
