Frost Brown Ale Brewed with Maple Syrup

The more beer I drink from Frost Beer Works of Hinesburg, Vermont, the more I like. Mostly, I’ve drunk IPAs from them, but I have had a few other styles, too. All have impressed. Today, I’m here to talk about a non-IPA in a favorite style: Frost Brown Ale Brewed with Maple Syrup.

Frost has a rather minimalist website and you really won’t find much information on their website about this beer. They do say on their web store:

A traditional brown ale containing subtle notes of chocolate and coffee. Maple syrup is added for additional complexity.

The label calls this an American Brown Ale, which really isn’t a traditional brown ale. Traditional brown ale is more in the line of classic English brown ale, I think.

Frost Brown Ale Brewed with Maple Syrup has an alcohol content of 6% by volume and I paid $4.99 for my pint can from Half Time. The brewery sells it for $13 a 4-pack of same. My can was stamped UNCLE JAMIE 12/21/23 on the bottom.

Frost Brown Ale Brewed with Maple Syrup pours to a dark mahogany color with a thick creamy tan head of foam and a nose of soft cookie malt and Maple syrup. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body, smooth and quite malty. It features chocolate chip cookie notes, brown sugar, dry roasted nuts, and sweet maple syrup. The beer finishes slightly sweet but with a gentle kiss of grassy bitter hops to balance somewhat, although I would like more hops in an American Brown ale.

Very delicious and very drinkable.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
