Steinhauer Weisse
Review Date 10/24/2024 By John Staradumsky
My Göller repertoire expands again! I picked up a few new Göller beers this year while in Helen, Georgia, for Oktoberfest. Had they had more of the wonderful Rauchbier I would have bought that, too, but alas they did not. I did get some Göller Steinhauer Weisse, though, and I am indeed happy about that. Here’s what the importer says about the beer:
The bubbly and unfiltered Weisse from Göller defines the hefeweizen style of Bavaria. The clean, dry mouthfeel balances the fruity banana and clove and a bright citrus aroma. True to style, this top fermented ale contains more than half wheat malts and is lightly hopped with Hallertauer Tradition. No filtration nor pasteurization leaves a cloudy, straw colored beauty topped with a foamy white head. No wonder it won multiple gold medals from the prestigious DLG Awards in Germany!
Göller Steinhauer Weisse has an alcohol content of 5.2% by volume and I paid $4.99 for my bottle from Alpine Brauhaus and Bottle Shop in Helen, one of my favorite package stores in all of Georgia. My bottle is stamped Best By 04/05/2024, which depending on the format could be April 5th or May 4th. Either way, I drank it on a warm October afternoon, and it was delightful. An unfiltered hefeweizen should have a decent shelf life after all.
Göller Steinhauer Weisse pours to a hazy amber yellow white color with a thick towering fluffy white head of foam and a vibrant nose of tart wheat, fruity banana, and spicy clove. Taking a sip, the beer is very tart wheaty indeed, crisp and crackery too. Robust notes of banana and clove quickly grabb the tongue and never let go. The beer finishes tart from the wheat and spicy from the clove and eminently drinkable.
A very delicious Bavarian beer that I would absolutely buy again.
Glad I tried it?

Would I rebuy it??
