Hey there Hi-Wire Brewing Company of Asheville, North Carolina. Fix your website! You have a listing for 10W-40 Chocolate Taco Imperial Stout Brewed with Chocolate, Vanilla, Lactose, and Waffles, but when I click the link, rather than tell me about the beer, it just brings me to a page with a “where-to-buy” finder for Hi-Wire beers.

Luckily, I found a can (a single can and that was all they had) of 10W-40 Chocolate Taco friends, so *I* am here to tell you about it. Because who doesn’t love chocolate tacos? They’re sort of like a Mexican-inspired version of an ice cream cone, but are so much more really. You used to be able to buy them at Taco Bell, or in the freezer section of your favorite grocery store under the Klondike Choco Taco brand. Klondike discontinued these however, and I’ve never seen anyone else make them.

Why not a beery version! Apparently that was Hi-Wire’s thought, and I salute them for it. A liquid chocolate taco! That’s right up my alley, and probably yours, too. As I said, there is no information on the brewery website, but I found this under the Untappd listing, which I am sure at one point came from Hi-Wire:

Inspired by an ice cream truck classic - the Frankenstein dessert that dares to combine a chocolate-dipped waffle cone with a taco - this batch of 10W-40 Imperial Stout will take you back to endless summer days of running around the neighborhood with friends. Brewed with chocolate, vanilla, lactose, and waffles, the full-bodied dark delight sports all the decadent flavors of our now-famous stout accentuated by the nostalgic biscuit and caramel flavors present in homemade waffles.

Hi Wire 10W-40 Chocolate Taco Imperial Stout Brewed with Chocolate, Vanilla, Lactose, and Waffles has an alcohol content of 8% by volume and runs $13.99 a 4-pack of pint cans at Total Wine. I paid $4.49 for my single can.

Hi Wire 10W-40 Chocolate Taco Imperial Stout Brewed with Chocolate, Vanilla, Lactose, and Waffles pours to a jet-black color with a thick creamy head and a nose of interwoven chocolate and vanilla. Taking a sip, the beer is full and rich in body with nutty malt and waffle (making up the taco shell) but much more chocolate and an underlying vanilla note. Finishes with a roasty dry finish that makes you want another biter (err, sip).

Allowing the mind’s palate run free, I do get the theme dessert. There is so much fun in that.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
