OB-1 CAN-OBI DDH Double IPA
Review Date 6/7/2025 By John Staradumsky
Help me, OB-1 CAN-OBI. You’re my only hope! Thirst’s only hope, according to the label of Mason Ale Works OB-1 CAN-OBI DDH Double IPA. I will say that when I saw this on tap at my local Taco Mac here in Canton, I said to myself, “Self, oh yeah, you’re getting that.” And I did, and now I am here to tell you about it.
Now, New York’s Other Half brewing may have 50 millions beers with a lot of cool names, but nobody does cool beer names like California’s Mason Ale Works does. I first started drinking Mason Ale Works brews about five years ago when I was able to buy them through Craftshack. Now, they are sold here in Georgia. So much better!
Mind you, I absolutely love beers like Dankentstein’s Monster, the Bride of Dankenstein, and B.A. (Barrrel Aged) Barracus Barleywine from Mason. OB-1 CAN-OBI was, however, the first beer I enjoyed from Mason on tap. Having it in the can might be more apropos, but what is a keg if not a very large can of beer?
Mason Ale Works says:
Grab your lightsaber! This Double Dry Hopped Hazy Double IPA is loaded with Citra and Galaxy Hops of course. Best enjoyed in a Galaxy far far away...
Truth be told, I much prefer enjoying it at a Taco Mac near, nearby. The Uber fare is a lot cheaper, after all.
Mason Ale Works OB-1 CAN-OBI DDH Double IPA has an alcohol content of 8.3% by volume and I paid $7.50 for an 11-ounce glass at Taco Mac. Apparently Total Wine in Alpharetta sells it for $23.99 a 4-pack.
My glass of Mason Ale Works OB-1 CAN-OBI DDH Double IPA arrived a hazy orange color with a thick fluffy white head and a nose of stone fruit and light citrus. Taking a sip the beer is medium to full in body. It’s infused with vibrant apricot stone fruit and bitter orange zest. The latter pops in the dry bitter finish where notes of peach and orange marmalade appear.
So good, it made me want Wan more, and wonder what's next? ANA-CAN Imperial Stout?
Glad I tried it?

Would I rebuy it??
