Anyway, this is a big, roasty porter, almost stout-like, as the first whiff tells you in a big way. Despite that roastiness, it's rather smooth and quite drinkable , accentuated with powerful notes of espresso and a touch of chocolate and balanced with a big, hop-and-roasted barley bitter finish for an all-around incredible beer drinking experience. A subtle smokiness is to be found here as well. Folks, this is a beergasm! I can imagine this beer as a fine accompaniment to a slice of rich chocolate cake, or perhaps served atop a brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream added to the glass ala Eckhardt. I would be very happy to find a bottle of this wonderful brew in my stocking on Christmas morning!
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
