New brewery alert! For me anyway. Last winter, I picked up a single of Mill Creek Brewing Silo Farmhouse Ale at Wile Hare Beer company in Spring Hill, Tennessee. This would be the first beer I’ve ever tried from Mill Creek of Nolensville, Tennessee. I stashed it in my beer fridge where it sat until I cracked it open one muggy summer afternoon.
Mill Creek doesn’t exactly say when they opened for business, so I don’t know how new they are to anyone besides me. I do know that Mill Creek Silo Farmhouse Ale does not seem to be in production currently. Mine is stamped on the bottom as canned on 7/14/17 and I drank it on September 3rd of 2018. It has an alcohol content of 5.2% by volume and was running $9.99 a six-pack at Wild Hare.
Mill Creek Silo Farmhouse Ale pours to a bright yellow color with a thick fizzy head and a dry, spicy gently tart nose. Taking a sip the beer is light and crackery with wheat and just a touch of malt with drying spice and notes of pepper and clove. It finishes tart and very dry with spice.
I very much enjoyed my can of Silo Farmhouse Ale. Wonderfully dry, spicy, crisp and refreshing. Perfect for this infernal weather we’re having.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
