404 Atlanta Lager

Review Date 2/13/2025 By John Staradumsky
So there I was at Taco Mac, sipping a Monday Night 404 Atlanta Lager. 404 Atlanta Lager is Monday Night’s entry into the easy drinking American Light Lager category, similar to Budweiser, Miller High Life, Coors Banquet Beer, Pabst Blue Ribbon, or Narragansett Lager as a few examples. Monday Night’s version is however crisper, drier and free of adjuncts like rice or corn.
404 Atlanta Lager is named for the famous 404 area code that encompasses downtown Atlanta and areas like Decatur and Sandy Springs. Truth be told, I wasn’t in the 404 when I was sipping the beer, nor was it a Monday night for that matter. Instead, it was a Thursday night and I was at my local Taco mac in Canton. Monday Night beers can be enjoyed on any day ending in “Y”, you see.
Monday Night says:
Featuring a 2-row malt base and gently hopped with Columbus, 404 Atlanta Lager is mellow and refreshing with light aromas and a relaxed 4.04% ABV.
4.04% ABV-you see what they did there? Monday Night Atlanta 404 Lager is sold at a bargain basement price, not much more than what you would pay for some of the mass market American lagers I mentioned above. I paid just $2.21 for a 23-ounce draft mug at Taco Mac-less than Coors, Miller, and Pabst were selling for at the time. Total Wine sells it for $9.99 a six-pack in cans, but why not shell out another five bucks and get a 12-pack there instead?
My mug of Monday Night 404 Atlanta Lager arrived a brilliant golden color with a thick fluffy white head and a nose of crisp biscuit malt. Taking a sip, the beer is clean, crisp, and biscuit malty up front, maltier than most in the style without the adjuncts. Finishes respectably bitter with grassy herbal hops.
This is a beer that is perfect for people that do not drink craft beer, a fine alternative to their normal adjunct laden lager. It does not have to replace those beers for them, but why not keep some on hand for when they show up at your door? You will enjoy it too, at least this guru of brew certainly did. For the style, for the flavor, the drinkability, and the bargain price this one gets a perfect five stars in my book.
Glad I tried it?

Would I rebuy it??
