Hey there Parish Brewing of Broussard, Louisiana! I just picked up a can of your Goats in the Machine Double India Pale Ale. I got it from Half Time Beverage, and although Parish beers are sold here in Georgia, I have yet to see this one locally. Got a question for you, though. Goats in the Machine, shouldn’t that have been a double bock? Goats and beer together usually mean a bock.

OK, I get this is a play on words for your Ghost in the Machine Imperial IPA, and as for the goats part, you explain that on your website:

Our latest Double IPA is a collaboration with our good friends at Jester King. For those who aren’t familiar, their brewery is nestled on a ranch outside of Austin, Texas, where you can sip craft beer and take a stroll through a goat pen that is home to a herd of 75 Nigerian Dwarf goats. Inspired by these spirited little creatures, we proudly present Goats in the Machine! Together we brainstormed a new form of Ghost, using new hop products Maui Nelson and Motueka Hop Kief from New Zealand. This tropical aroma exclamation point is added to an already saturated dry hop of Cryo Citra and Nectaron.

I still think it should be a double bock, because I really love double bock, but hey, who am I to argue with your wisdom?

Parish Goats in the Machine Double IPA has an alcohol content of 8% by volume and I paid $6.99 for my can from Half Time. This is the only pricing information that I have. My can was stamped MANIFESTED 06/02/25 on the bottom.

Parish Goats in the Machine Double IPA pours to a very hazy yellow orange color with a moderate head of white creamy foam and a nose of robust citrus and tropical fruits. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body, a little more of that than I usually get in the style. It’s smooth and pasty from the oats and super juicy, I get orange and tangerine, a bit of grapefruit, pineapple, mango and a minty, respectably bitter finish.

As the style goes, this one is very good indeed, and even dangerously drinkable. Like the goats of Jester King, it has a kick to it, so drink in moderation! But drink it all the same. You’ll be glad you did.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
