Greetings From Cypremort Point

Greetings from Cypremort Point! I’ll confess that, at least initially, I had no clue just what Cypremort Point was. I did know that Cypremort means “dead cyprus” thanks to my old High School and college French classes. I also knew that Greetings from Cypremort Point is a beer from the Parish Brewing Company of Broussard, Louisiana. This was because I was holding a can in my hand.

Greetings from Cypremort Point is yet another entry in the “Greetings From” and “Welcome To” series of beers I have seen popping up from breweries around the country. So far, I have obviously scored this beer, but also “Welcome to Nebco Lager” from New England Brewing Company. I have yet to review the latter, though I did take tasting notes, but I did enjoy and review Greetings From Weymouth from Vitamin Sea brewing.

Parish explains what Cypremort Point is:

Greetings from Cypremort Point is the newest in Parish’s lineup of tiki-inspired fruited sours. This Berliner-style beer takes its name from the Louisiana community just south of our brewery – beloved by sports and outdoor enthusiasts for fishing, crabbing, sailing, and water skiing. The local boat launch is the gateway to redfish in Vermilion Bay, speckled trout in Tiger Shoals, or red snapper in the Gulf of Mexico, and no visit is complete without a refreshing adult beverage or two. Peach, orange, pineapple, lime, and pomegranate with underlying notes of almond combine in an intense tropical medley. Whether or not you bring Greetings from Cypremort Point with you to the boat launch, it brings the boat-launch-vibes to you.

Parish lists the following ingredients:

almond/lime/orange/peach/pineapple/pomegranate

Parish Greetings from Cypremort Point has an alcohol content of 5.6% by volume and I paid $6.49 for a pint can at Total Wine. It was running $18.99 a 4-pack at the time, which I think is about $5 more than it should be. My can was stamped CANNED ON 04/22/24.

Parish Greetings from Cypremort Point pours to a hazy orange color with a light head formation and a nose of stone fruit peach and apricot. Taking a sip, this one is super juicy with peach and pineapple up front. Citrusy orange and lime poke through and a little of the pomegranate, too. I don’t get the almond, and the finish here is balanced with a gentle tartness, but nowhere near the sourness I wany from a Berliner Weisse. Call it a fruit beer and you’ll be much happier. I know I was.

Fruit salad? Fruit cocktail? I get both. I guess you could call it a Berliner Weisse but I get a lot more fruit beer vibes. As a fruit beer and hedonistically, I would rate this a 4 out of 5, but I will take back a half star for the very high price.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
