Here’s another beer that I found floating around in my beer fridge: Platform Red Cup Red India Pale Ale. I don’t have a lot of information on this beer, except that I got it from Dave Coulter at the end of 2016. It’s been in my beer fridge ever since. I do enjoy the style, an IPA variant with a bit of stewed and or toasted malt.
Ingredients from the label:
Malt: Pale, Vienna, Cara Maber, Carafa III, Light Crystal
Hops: Magnum, Centennial, Cascade, Summer
Yeast: San Diego
Platform Red Cup Red India Pale Ale has an alcohol content of 6% by volume.
Platform Red Cup Red India Pale Ale pours to a dirty russet color with a thick fluffy head and an aromatic nose of stewed malts and citrus fruits. Taking a sip, the beer is full bodied with nutty, chocolaty stewed malt flavors with hints of berry and stronger notes of lemony citrus peel. The finish is subtle roast and bright citrusy hops with a lingering dry bitterness.
Platform Red Cup Red India Pale Ale is excellent with at least 9 months on it. One of these days I will try it fresher, but the hops are still popping and the malts nicely accented with some age.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
