Wheat Will Rock You

Canton, Georgia has a new brewery! Really, it’s not a new brewery, it’s just new to Canton: Reformation Brewery, now of Canton and Woodstock. Reformation had originally been planned to open in Canton many years ago, but the city officials of the day pooh-poohed the idea. They came to regret that decision when Reformation (and the tax revenue it generated) opened in nearby Woodstock instead. Today, Canton’s government is more enlightened, and Reformation opened a second location in the Mill on Etowah in May of 2019.

I just love breweries in old mills and stopped by to see the place on May 23rd. The brewery had a “soft opening” before their grand opening in June, which is why I was able to stop by. The day of my visit their was an issue with the coolers, and draft beer was not available. I did enjoy a few cans of fresh Reformation beer all the same.

Not to worry, though, June 16th was Father’s Day, and I dropped by Reformation again with my sons just in time to enjoy a pint of Wheat Will Rock You, a collaboration beer with local radio station 97.1 The River. The River plays classic rock, and what better name for a beer than Wheat Will Rock You? Freddy Mercury would be proud for sure. The brewery and the radio station had just had a roll out party for the beer the day before. I bought a 4-pack to go as well.

Wheat Will Rock You is only available at the brewery and at Georgia Taco Mac locations. I ended up enjoying it at Taco Mac a few weeks later, and at home from the can as well. This is a tasty American wheat of 5% alcohol by volume. I paid $6.00 for my pint at Reformation, $11.99 for the 4-pack of pint cans to go, and $6.80 for a 23-ounce mug at Taco Mac.

Reformation says:

A hop forward American Wheat Ale ready to crush on Summer, Wheat Will Rock You is a collaboration with 97.1 The River inspired by the sweet, citrus forward notes of Amarillo & Idaho Gem hops.

Join Reformation Brewery and 97.1 The River for more fun this Summer, including remote broadcasts, Wheat Wednesdays at Taco Macs throughout Georgia, and more celebrations to be announced.

Wheat Will Rock you pours to a slightly hazy amber color with a thick cap of white foam and a soft wheaty, gently citrusy nose. Taking a sip, the crackery wheat is crisp and refreshing and the lemony, citrusy hop character adds another refreshing layer. The beer finishes gently tart from the wheat and decidedly moreish. It’s quite a tasty beer indeed, perfect for the summer heat.

If you live in Georgia, why not get yourself to a Taco Mac or, better yet, down to the brewery to try one? I’m sure you’ll find just as I did that Wheat Will, Wheat Will Rock You.

 Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
