Yet another fine beer from the Rittmayer brewery of Hallendorf, Lower Saxony, Germany: Georg Rittmayer Hausbrauerbier. I got this beer in the 2025 Biergarten Collection box from Costco, and was excited to see more Rittmayer beers here. I very much enjoyed the ones I received in last year's box, especially the Rauchbier. The label styles this beer as Fränkiches Dunkelbier, which to me is a lot like a Munich Dunkel.

The Rittmayer website does not seem to list the beers they brew. The Webster Barnes website for the 2025 box says this about the brewery:

Brewing beers as early as 1422, the family has brewed quality beers locally using traditional methods. Showing an ability to adapt and innovate, the brewery has incorporated modern equipment to improve efficiency and energy conscious practices such as a wood chip heating system, as well as an energy saving program using heat storage. Producing a range of beers with something for everyone.

Georg Rittmayer Hausbrauerbier has an alcohol content of 5% by volume according to my can label and I paid $2.50 for it ($59.95 for the collection divided by 24). That is an amazing deal. My can was stamped

BEST BEFORE 07/2026. "Hausbrauerbier" means house brewer beer in German, or a specialty beer of the brewery.

Georg Rittmayer Hausbrauerbier pours to a dark brown color with a thick creamy head and a nose of chocolate chip cookies and toasted nuts. Taking a sip the beer is medium in body, again with chocolate chip cookies, dry roasted nuts, and a subtle kiss of molasses, Whitman's Mollasses Chew candies are suggested. The beer finishes balanced with a kiss of grassy bitter hops.

If you love malty beers, this beer is as much for you as it was for me. I loved it, and would love to drink it again.

Other beers in this collection:

Georg Rittmayer Rauchbier

Eibauer St. M Dunkel Bock

Eibauer St. M Hefeweizen

Eibauer Schwarzbier

BBW Wiesener Festmärzen

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
