The Phlow Sunshine IPA

Go with the flow! That’s my motto. In the case of the Roadhouse Brewery of Jackson, Wyoming, that might be better phrased as “Go with the Phlow.” That’s because they brew a session IPA called The Phlow. I kind of went with the flow myself in trying their beer. I received an email from Taco Mac on May 8th announcing that they would be the first to tap Roadhouse beers in Georgia. Yay! They would be welcoming Roadhouse with special tappings at The Chapter Room location the next day.

Sadly, I could not make it to that event, but I knew that Roadhouse beers would make it to my local Canton Taco Mac, and they did. I finally got to try one, The Phlow, on June 4th.

Roadhouse says:

The Phlow is a sessionable, seasonal summer IPA brewed with Vista, Sabro, and Idaho Gem for a refreshingly light, and highly drinkable summer brew. This clear-ish beer has a heavy hand of oats for a full bodied mouthfeel and candied pineapple, citrus and other tropical fruit flavors and aromas that make this beer an ideal summer sipper.

Roadhouse calls The Phlow a “Sunshine IPA”, whatever that is. It has an alcohol content of 5% by volume, making it a session IPA, but it’s also very hazy indeed and shares the traits of a juicy New England IPA. A session hazy, the. I paid $7.51 for a 23-ounce mug at Taco Mac, which is not that bad these days.

Roadhouse Brewery The Phlow Sunshine IPA pours to a hazy yellow color with a light fluffy head and a bold citrusy nose. Taking a sip the beer is light to medium in body and immediately citrusy with lemon and grapefruit pith, flesh, and peel. Tropical pineapple pokes through too, and the beer finishes balanced with just a hint of bitterness. I’d like more of that, but I did enjoy the beer while waiting for my Sweet Asian Heat and Chili Sesame wings, and the last half of it went well with them.

Definitely a beer I would buy again, and as Taco Mac has two more Roadhouse beers on tap, I am eager to get back there and try those too.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
