Scofftoberfest

Fall is here! That means…..Oktoberfest! In just a few days, I will be headed off to beautiful Helen, Georgia, about an hour and a half from me. I’m going there as I do every year for their Oktoberfest celebration, which runs every day from late September all through October. I will be drinking German beer, eating German food, and listening to German music. What’s better than that?
For now, though, I’m sitting on my patio sipping on Scofftoberfest from Atlanta’s Scofflaw brewery. This is a new beer to me and as much as I love the tried and true (like Helen Oktoberfest), I love new things too. Especially a new Oktoberfest beer.
Scofflaw says:
O’zapft is! Scofftoberfest is our take on a traditional Festbier. Just like those on enjoyed at d’Wiesn in München. This golden festbier boasts a smooth malt backbone with a clean, satisfying finish. Perfect for pairing with pretzels, bratwurst, and Fall in the South. Prost!
Scofflaw Scofftoberfest has an alcohol content of 6% by volume. It caught my eye in the beer cooler of my local Publix, and I picked it up for $11.99 the six-pack there. A very fair price these days. My cans are stamped 8/18/25.
Scofflaw Scofftoberfest pours to a hazy orange color with a thick fluffy white head and a nose of toasty nutty malt goodness. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body, hints at caramel and bursts with toasty nutty Munich malt melanoidin goodness. It finishes balanced with a gentle earthy bitterness.
They call this a Festbier, but I thought it was chewy malty enough to be more of a Märzen. My thinking was reinforced later in the evening when I had a lighter, breadier Paulaner Oktoberfest (the Wies’n, not their Märzen). I really enjoyed Scofftoberfest, and I will be looking for it again next year (and maybe I will find it on tap somewhere in Helen).
Glad I tried it?

Would I rebuy it??
