Here’s a beer I picked up at Wild Hare Beer Company not so long ago; Southern Prohibition Suzy B Dirty Blonde Ale. Wild Hare is in Spring Hill, TN and I pick up some beer every time I’m in the area. Of course I do! The can of Suzy B I got seems to be a few labels behind; Southern Prohibition gives Suzy B a facelift quite frequently it seems; the beer is getting a new label once again as I type.
Suzy B is our lightest offering. It's unfiltered, flavorful, drinkable and great for any occasion. Wheat, Barley, Hops, Water, Yeast.
On my can:
Blonde ale with a pinch of wheat.
Southern Prohibition Suzy B Dirty Blonde Ale has an alcohol content of 5% by volume with 20 IBUs. It was running $9.99 a six-pack at Wild Hare when I bought it. Southern Prohibition Brewery is located in Hattiesburg, MS. I’ve never been there, but if I were to go, I would visit these guys for sure.
Southern Prohibition Suzy B Dirty Blonde Ale pours to a hazy golden color with a thick foamy head and a soft malty nose. Taking a sip, the beer offers soft biscuity malt with a touch of honey like notes and tart wheat. This is, as I mentioned, an old style can so I don’t know how old it is, but it is really delicious. I love the maltiness and the crackery wheat that adds another dimension.
I do enjoy such beers in the warm weather, and I can see this one going well indeed sipping on my patio while grilling. Judged against other examples of the style (and how else can you judge a beer?), I find this one to be better than average.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
