Poor Turtle Anarchy Portly Stout! I bought it when I was in Nashville at Wild Hare Beer Company, and that was sometime in the first few months of 2018. I made a few trips there in that time, and can’t recall on which I picked up this beer. It stayed there until early May, when I sat out on my patio and drank it.
Which was nice.
OK, well, next step in the process is to scribe my thoughts on the beer as I’m doing today. I have become a creature of habit in this respect, and I usually scroll through my beer photos to see which one gets reviewed next. Except in this case, somehow, I lost the pictures I took.
I did, however, notice the can in my closet (I save my cans and bottles until my review is done. Weird, I know). So I tried to recover the photo I uploaded to Untappd (no luck there, you can’t save them) and finally settled for recovering the shot I put on Facebook.
Anyway, you would, I assume, probably like to know something about the beer at this point.
Turtle Anarchy says:
A medium bodied, robust stout brewed with 3 different dark malts to bring out the chocolate and coffee notes for a creamy mouth feel.
Turtle Anarchy Portly Stout has an alcohol content of 6.2% by volume with 40 IBUs. Total Wine sells it for $8.99 a six-pack.
Turtle Anarchy Portly Stout pours to a jet black color with a thick creamy tan head and a robust roasty nose. Taking a sip, the beer is full bodied with a vibrant roasty character, dark chocolate and strangely marshmallow vanilla undercurrents. It finishes with an impressive roasty bitterness and this is a beer I am quite impressed with.
I’ll be looking for more from this brewery, and more of this beer, the next time I’m in Nashville!
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
