It’s IPA Day! Yay! For my part, I’m celebrating at Taco Mac where they observe this most august of occasions not for just one day, but an entire week! Be that as it may, I am here on the day proper and enjoying a glass of Wild Leap Alpha Abstraction Vol. 2, a hazy New England-style double IPA.
This is my first beer from Wild Leap of LaGrange, Georgia. LaGrange is south of Atlanta near the Alabama border, and was not immortalized in the ZZ Top song (that refers to La Grange, Texas).
Wild Leap says:
The second edition of the Alpha Abstraction series, Volume 2 is a juicy, double dry-hopped IPA with Galaxy and Citra hops.
Wild Leap Alpha Abstraction Vol. 2 has an alcohol content of 8% by volume with 35 IBUs. I paid $9 for an 11-ounce glass at Taco Mac, which is high I think, and it runs $13.99 a six-pack in cans, which is also high.
Wild Leap Alpha Abstraction Vol. 2 pours to a hazy orange color with a medium head of foam and sized and grapefruit and pineapple in the nose, medium malt and more citrusy juice (orange, grapefruit) and bitter citrus rind, and a minty herbal bitter finish with a kiss of warming alcohol .
I like this! This is the featured beer for IPA Day, and it’s so mega juicy! I really do like it. Definitely a beer I would buy again.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
