Hey Weldwerks! Haven't I already had your Extra Extra Juicy Bits Hazy Double India Pale Ale before? I was so sure I had and thought in fact that I had it in a can. I saw on tap at Taco Mac, and so of course I ordered it, and boy am I glad I did. When I went to check it in on Untappd, though, I noticed that it would be my very first check in. What the heck?

As it turned out, I had indeed ordered a can of Extra Extra Juicy Bits from Half Time, but they sent me the Galaxy variant instead. Cannot complain about that; it was very good indeed. I've also had their Juicy Bits India Pale Ale, and the Extra Extra Bayou Juice. Thanks to Taco Mac for bailing me out on my Extra Extra Juicy Bits gap!

Weldwerks Extra Extra Juicy Bits is brewed and double dry-hopped with Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado Hops. The beer has an alcohol content of 8.6% by volume with 55 IBUs.

Tasting Notes

My mug of Weldwerks Extra Extra Juicy Bits arrived a very hazy yellow color with a moderate head of foam and a nose just bursting with juicy grapefruit and pineapple. Taking a sip, the beer is about medium in body, what I expect from these hazy IPAs. It immediately explodes with juice, a bot of tropical pineapple and mango, but much more citrus. I got juicy tangerine, orange, a hint of lemon, and some grapefruit, with grapefruit rind appearing in the finish. That finish is balanced, but not overly bitter, and I had a hard time not immediately going back for another sip.

Value & Verdict

I paid $8.94 for a 23-ounce draft at Taco Mac, and Total Wine advertises it for $20.99 a 4-pack in pint cans at their Roseville, Minnesota location. Pricey, but worth it. My draft price seems all the more reasonable considering Weldwerks advertise this beer for $8 a pint at the brewery, so I got another 7-ounces for just 94 cents.

On tap, this was more like Extra Extra Extra Juicy Bits, and I have to say I would love to drink this again. But if you will excuse me, I just remembered I have a can of Extra Extra Juicy Bits Citra in the hall beer fridge. I need to go and see what that one is all about.

Buy It Again? Yes, I would.
