Here we are with the third beer I’ve ever tasted from Colorado’s Wiley Roots Brewing Company, Citradankulous American Double India Pale Ale with Citra Hops. I’ve sampled all three in a relatively short time span, since I just got them from my good buddy Dale Roberts. He’s the man for Colorado beer, and that’s mostly all he drinks folks! I’m grateful he sent Wiley Roots beers my way.
Wiley Roots does not talk about their beers much on their website. I know this one is meant to be a fruity IPA based on the hop variety and the label, which features exploding limes and pineapples and pink grapefruit. The label is of the modern sticky variety that peel off so easily, and I’ve scanned it in for your approval. Just another of the many services we provide here at Bruguru.com.
Wiley Roots Citradankulous American Double India Pale Ale with Citra Hops has an alcohol content of 8.1% by volume per the label.
Wiley Roots Citradankulous American Double India Pale Ale with Citra Hops pours to a hazy yellow orange color with a thick fluffy head and a robust citrusy orange nose. Taking a sip, the beer has a medium body but quickly explodes with juicy orange, grapefruit zest, tropical pineapple and minty herbal notes. It finishes quite bitter and herbal leafy. It got even hazier after I poured the bottom of my can into the glass. Yeast in the can?
I didn’t really get the limes but boy did the citrusy notes really pop on this baby. I really enjoyed it, and would stack it up with the best of the recent crowd of double New England IPAs.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
