Twelve Days of Beer Breakfast Stout

Review Date 11/22/2025 By John Staradumsky
I didn’t need any beer, that much must be made clear, or nothing wondrous can come of this tale. Mind you, I leave it to the reader to decide if anything wondrous can come from this tale anyway, but it must be understood as I said before, I didn’t need any beer.
This, of course, never stops me from buying beer, and so when I spied Twelve Days of Beer 12-packs stacked on a pallet at my local Aldi, I bought one. Twelve assorted beers for $19.99 seemed a good deal, and after all they are brewed by ABW at New Realm Brewing in Virginia, a very good brewery indeed. I had recently picked up a six-pack of their Patriot’s Reserve American Lager and found it quite worthy.
In this collection you will find:
Amber Lager
Lemon Shandy
Mango Wheat
Hazy IPA
Imperial IPA
American Light Lager
Mexican Lager
Dry Stout
And the beer I’m here to talk about today, Aldi Twelve Days of Beer Breakfast Stout, a beer of 4.2% alcohol by volume. It is stamped on the bottom PKGD 091025.
Aldi says about the 12 pack:
Celebrate the season with the Advent Calendar 12 Days of Beer. This 12 pack includes a variety of 12 fl oz beers, from Spiced Winter Lager to Dry Stout. Perfect for holiday gatherings or as a festive gift, each beer offers a unique taste experience. With different flavors and styles, this pack keeps the celebrations interesting. Make the holidays merry with the Advent Calendar 12 Days of Beer.
For this beer in particular, it should be noted first and foremost that if you go in expecting a potent, barrel-aged beer like Founders KBS (Kentucky Breakfast Stout), you will be greatly disappointed. Aldi's Breakfast Stout in the Twelve Days of Beer pack is at 4.2% roughly a third as strong as Founders KBS at 11.8%. About the only thing they have in common is coffee notes. Indeed, I think the Aldi beer is truly intended with the low ABV as something you copuld drink with breakfast and not start the day overly inebriated. For my part, the only thing I drink in the mornings is coffee, but your mileage may vary.
Aldi 12 Days of Beer Breakfast Stout pours to a jet-black color with a moderate tan head formation and a nose of fresh brewed coffee and caramel. Taking a sip, the beer is light to medium in body and it needs more of that. It pops with caramel and roasted malts and black coffee in short order. It finishes dark roasty and dry, but again here the thin body comes through. Notes of a cup of coffee really comes through here, and cinnamon and caramel denote a cinnamon roll along with it. With more body would be spectacular, but as it is and on its own merits I rate it three and a half out of five, adding another hanlf star for the bargain basement price. What do you want for under two bucks these days?
This is the fourht beer I have tried out of the holiday 12-pack and easily the best. None of the beers have been earth shattering, but none of them so far are bad, either. An interesting assortment, well worth the $20 price of admission. A great gift idea for a budding craft beer enthusiast as well.
Glad I tried it?

Would I rebuy it??
